To laugh is to risk appearing the fool
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk involvement
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
To place your ideas, dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return
To love is to risk dying
To hope is to risk despain
To risk is to try failure
But risk must be taken, because the greatest hazzard in life is to risk NOTHING!
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing and is nothing
They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they can not learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes, they are a slave, they have forfeited their freedom.
Only the person who risks is free.

I think it's better for a person to make a wrong decision, than not make a decision.

Have a nice day my friends :)

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the world’s 2nd richest man who donated $31 billion to charity. Following are some very interesting aspects of his life.

-          Bought his first share at age 11 and now regrets that he started too late!

-          He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.

-          H e still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in midtown Omaha; that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a fence.

-          He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.

-          He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world’s largest jet company.

-          His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEO’s of these companies, giving them goals for one year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.

-          He has given his CEO’s only 2 rules:

Rule #1: Do not lose any of your shareholder’s money.

Rule#2: Do not forget rule #1.

-          He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His part time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch TV.

-          He does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.

-          Bill gates, the world’s richest man met him for the first time 5 years ago. Bill scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for 10 hours ad Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.

His advice to young people:

Stay away from credit card, bank loans and invest in yourself and remember:

-          Money doesn’t create man but it is the man who created money.

-          Live your life as simply as you are

-          Don’t do what others say, just listen to them, but do what you feel good.

-          Don’t go on brand name; just wear those things which you feel comfortable.

-          Don’t waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend on them who really in need rather.

-          After all it’s your life then why give chance to others to rule your life.

-          The happiest people do not necessarily have the best of all. They simply appreciate what they find in their way.

Grabe!! Ako nag uumpisa pa lang bumili ng shares. hanep! Amazing guy!

Wow!! It's been years since I last posted in my blog. HAHAHA! Anyway, I just would like to update some of the things I did last summer and to share things I a lof of Filipinos should know :)

Last summer, all I did was to develop my low tones. So I only have been practicing 10 minutes a day! It was the most effective practice I had over the years. I don't know why, but it really took a lot of discipline and patience to do it.

I went to Batanes for 3 days. Astig din dito! One fine way to recharge your weakening soul from all the negative news outside. : )

I dropped my Eng 12 subject because I was not able to take the first exam. I was so dissapointed because I wanted to get an exemption from the finals because I had to leave for HK 2 days after the last day of classes. Woohooo!!! when I was in my first year, I told myself that I would never hold and fill up that blue dropping form, hahaha!! I lied. :) well, there's always a first for everything.

I got a high grade in socio 10 though. At least I was able to finish my paper before I left for hk.

I was in HK for 2 weeks! yeah!!!!!! ang saya saya!! :) I went there to watch the concert and to attend the workshop of my flute idol!! Emmanuel Pahud. Ang galing galing!!! And I learned a lot. I also went to HK to visit someone very special in my heart. *blushing* hehehehe... Salamat sa pag host sa akin! hehehe....

Ok. So now, one more thing that kept me busy last summer is that I was attending seminars on financial education.

Last Wednesday we have been privileged to attend Rex Mendoza's lecture regarding financial management.. he was by far 1 of the best speakers i've ever heard when it comes to financial management lectures. Rex Mendoza is the VP of ayala land, a UP grad, and also a professor in DLSU. His in-depth knowledge and experience in the financial industry was very visible during his lecture.
He was scheduled to conduct the lecture since last year but it was just last Wednesday that it pushed through. And I would like to share some of his thoughts to you. Some lang ha kasi the lecture was like for 3 hours, 7:30-10:30 pm, d pa ako nag didinner but I never felt hungry until 11 pm na.

Many Filipinos do not have a plan in life. A lot do not think about retirement. All we do is complain on the rising prices, the low salaray pay but come to think of it, prices have been rising since the 1970's or way back but we never learn. We do not do anything. We only get scared and react violently but come to think of it, it's already natural for prices to go up but is it natural for us to react violently all the time and blame the government for all of these? What if we did something else? What if we didn't care if a kilo of rice goes 100 pesos? Your reaction will depend on your attitude.

Another problem is majority of the Filipinos know only one way how to make money, and that's to work but they never know how money should work for them. A lot do not know how to save because partly to blame is our culture. We are a consumer society. Most Filipinos do not have savings and worse, a lot of Filipinos are in debt. Utang lang ang alam gawin pag wala nang pera.

Come to think of it, there is no advertisment in television, radio or any kind that tells Filipinos to save but all advertisement is focused on trying to get the money of the Filipinos. The problem is Bili lang ng bili ang mga Pinoy.because they do not have a plan for their future.

Mr Mendoza talked in the queen's elizabeth stadium to thousands of OFW's in HK.  He asked them "How long do you plan to work as an OFW? You have sacrificed not being with your family but do you plan to be an OFW for the rest of your lives?"

Saving alone will not guarantee us a good life after retirement. We should also learn how to invest. The problem with Filipinos is we only know one vehicle of investment, the Bank which yields 1% per annum and time deposit which yields 3.5-4% per annum. Meaning when your money is in the bank, your money will double every 72 YEARS! HAHAHA!! so if I have 1 thousand in the Bank, then after 72 years pa magiging 2 thousand. In a 4% vehicle, it will take 18 YEARS for your money to double. grabe!!!

There are many types of investment vehicles that yield higher returns. Bonds, MF's, CD's , Equity, stocks etc...

Question is, why should we invest?

If your answer is to make more money, then you are in a path of danger. We invest because we want to defeat inflation. Inflation is around 7% this year so if you invest in a time deposit, your money loses pa pala.

There are 3 things in life you have to deal with. If you die to soon, if you you bacome disabled and couldn't work and when you live to long. That's why it is important to have insurance that will sustain our family in case of untimely death, also when we cannot work already. Another is if we live too long and no savings because we cannot expect our children to take care of us because this will be uncertain. What if your children cannot help you because he/she is not able? our children will have their own families and problems to face in the future. Don't be another problem for them.

Pero it's really not all about money. Na emphasize in his lecture na it's really all about your goals, your objectives, your attitude and most importantly, your discipline as a person. If you love your family, if you want a good future for your children, then you will invest time in learning this.

The reason why I am sharing this to you is that I was struck with his last message. He said "you are here in this room and listening to me not because of coincidence but because you have a reason here. It is your responsibility to share this to your friends and love ones. If you could share this to 5 people, and then those 5 could share to another 5 then maybe in a few months, we could see a better country because a country cannot be rich when there are a lot of poor and undiscipline people living on it."

If you want to know more, contact me! there are free financial education seminars in Makati.

There is still hope for the Philippines

My sem is over!! oh yeah!! 21 units in the bag!! oh baby!!!

Well... there are so many things I would like to write regarding my experience in Bangkok. But i'm to lazy to do that. hahaha!!

Here is something I have learned and would like to share other aspiring musicians.

List down 5-10 aspects that you have as a musician. rank them from one to ten. 1 being the best aspect. So for example,

1. I have good tones
2. Technique is good
3.
4.
5.

etc.....

By doing this, you would notice that the ones on top are the things you practice most, and the things at the bottom are things you seldom practice or don't practice at all. So you have to invert these order by practicing the things you seldom practice. :)

Another tip...

If you want to play loud, practice loud.
If you want to play/sing beautifully, practice singing beautifully
If you want to play soft, practice playing soft

simple as that :)

Sometimes people do not want to practice these things because it is difficult especially playing soft. and these are the things you must do :)

Good night people!

Looking forward to a great semestral break! A semstral break full of patient and intelligent (<--mahirap to e) work!

thanks to the typhoon! I get to practice and study more. haha!! now I can make up for the pieces I couldn't practice and the lessons I don't study.

I'm down to 18 units now if it's true that i'm exempted from my forms and analysis finals. sana lang......

ok. Blog update after a very very long time. At least I have time right now.

This week was working well for the first few days until yesterday. I received an e-mail that really broke my heart.

Friday started pretty ok. I was able to practice well and had a great time in my German class. I also got to know some people but when I went to the computer shop to check my e-mail in the afternoon, ayun. I really didn't feel anything after reading that email message. I was numb. It was like God was against everything I planned for. I really didn't know what to do.

My mood eventually changed during rehearsals at the MMCO.

__________________________________________________________________________

This morning, Me and a friend of mine went to play in a Golden anniv wedding. I though it would just be an ordinary wedding wherein we play in the mass and reception, get paid and fly away but this day was different. We had a singer who was a friend of the grand daughter of the celebrants (gets nyo? ako hindi eh. haha) He really wasn't a singer, but he was chosen to sing because he knows a lot of old songs especially the kundimans.

He works in a call center but  the interesting part about him is that ....... He's a magician! Astig!!

He taught me and my friend some of his tricks which were really  amazing!!

I will be practicing this tricks. Hopefully I could shoe you some of them pretty soon.

SAYOWE AUDITIONS TOMORROW!

wish me luck!!

tsk

There are so many things I want to do but I couldn't because of academic pressure.

I couldn't find time to practice my flute. It's like after an exam, another exam follows and come to think of it, only a month has passed.

The good news is I got accepted at the Ipil dorm.

I still have to practice a lot of pieces. One is the music for my major which is really challenging plus I have to study the guitar and flute Sonata, the Bach music and the pieces for the conemus concert in makiling by the end of July. And and and, I forgot, I have to prepare for the SAYOWE auditions by the end of the month. whew!! All right!!

So blog update lang to. hahaha!

I couldn't think of a subject to blog on so I just accidentally bumped into this survey.

Message: PSYCHOLOGY PERSONALITY QUIZ
Rule: Pick Only One. Don’t cheat!

BLACK/WHITE
> white

COFFEE/SOFTDRINKS

MOON/STARS
>

TV/RADIO
>

SUGAR/SPICE
>

DOGS/CATS
>

NINJA/PIRATE
>

Next: Bear in mind your answers as you
scroll down for interpretations.

Result:

BLACK- You love the crowd... a party
animal! Too many “friends”, you can’t
easily tell which among them is real
and
not...
WHITE- Mysterious... oftentimes, a
loner. You know your true friends and
only them are allowed to understand the
real you.

COFFEE- You hide your emotions...
Sometimes pretending to be always
happy.
Sometimes, not giving even a hint of
what you really feel.

SOFTDRINKS- You’re usually
expressive...
Open about your emotions and most of
the time willing to talk about it.

MOON- You love deeply... you may flirt
along and people think you’re a
playboy/playgirl but the truth is: your
heart belongs to only one.

STARS- You search for love... you’re a
hopeless romantic and every time you
enter a relationship, you give your all
and believe “this is the One.”

TV- You have so many ideas in mind...
You’re creative and aggressive! If you
want something, you’ll do anything to
get it!

RADIO- You appreciate simple things in
life... You hate complicating things
that’s why you’re typically up-front in
any aspect.

SUGAR- You’re an ideal
boyfriend/girlfriend... You don’t care
if your partner doesn’t really love you
as long as you love him. You give your
all...

SPICE- You’re a stubborn sweetheart...
You “love” him/her only because he/she
loves you. If his/her flame puts out,
you let go with no trouble.

DOGS- You’re undoubtedly good-natured!
Most of the time, people are confident
to approach you because they know you
will consider them.

CATS- You’re intimidating! People have
an impression that you’re elite—or if
not, you simply look sophisticated. You
gain praises but not companions.

NINJA- You love actions...with the
hero-like taste! You focus on your
strengths and use them to protect
persons/things that are important to
you.

PIRATE- You’re independent! You’re also
risky just like the pirates who sail in
the vast and dangerous ocean to look
for treasures!

So, do you believe in this test? I do!! I answered number one and didn't care to put my other answers in public because I want to live up to my being "mysterious." hehehe..........

woo.. bakit ganito!! waaaaaaaa!!!!!

first of all, I wasn't accepted in molave together with a lot of friends coming from provinces like Bacolod, iloilo, laguna and Cagayan De Oro city. tsktsk.. Labo!

2nd, my scholarship was put on hold due to abscences in the band. wak!! so now, I'm not yet enrolled.

3rd, I haven't recieved the important email message that's supposed to be in my email by now. nyahahaha!!

4th, I figured out that my flute is out of tune. That's why I play out of tune in the low register. So it has to be retuned. That's the problem of having old instruments. They're not up to date. hehehe...

sige lang. I know there will be something good this semester. I just have to prepare for the biggest roller coaster ride of my life. 21 units, without a dorm and playing an out of tune flute (which I hope can be retuned. sana lang dumating na si mr. repairman).

anyway, my friend told me to look at these things positively. and I did!!

So this sem will be very much exciting!! How? akin na yun!!

classes are about to start next week and I just don't have the enthusiasm to go to school. A friend of mine asked "bakit? Bitin ba ang summer?" then I replied, "hinde.. there are some things I want to do that summer or school can't provide."

and then she asks "ano yun?"

Then I said.. "akin na yun"

Basta ewan.. I really don't feel like going to school. Maybe because I don't have assurance that i'll be accepted in molave next sem,or i'll be taking 21 units, or worse, I can see no excitement in this coming semester. sheesh.....

Anyway, I wathced pirates 3 a while ago and if you haven't wathced pirates 1 and 2, don't watch 3. You won't follow the story. Like me, I couldn't follow some of it because I didn't pirates 2. It was still a good movie! very exciting!!

What a tiring and hot day for me. I went to UP to submit the requirements for the dorm admission and then went to SM to buy 2 books.

Went home and then sat on the bed of my mom to relax a little bit and saw a reader's digest. Then there was this interesting advertisement of promil which said that there are 2 groups of children: the intelligent and the gifted. so there was a list of characteristics that may help you find out which category you belong.

THE INTELLIGENT CHILD

THE GIFTED CHILD

Knows the answers

Asks the questions

Is interested

Is highly curious

Is attentive

Is mentally and physically involved

Works hard

Playful, yet tests well

Answers the questions

Discusses in detail, elaborates

Is in the top group

Is a level higher

Listens with interest

shows strong feelings and opinions

Learns with ease

Already knows

Needs 6-8 repetitions for mastery

Needs 1-2 repetitions

Understands ideas

Constructs abstractions

Enjoys peers

Prefers adults

Grasps the meaning

Draws interference

Completes assignments

Initiates projects

Copies accurately

Creates a new design

Is receptive

Is intense

My mom said that you could be a mix of the two but I think there will be a more dominant side.

ako, i'm more on the **************** child. hehehe....... kayo?
